Pier Village residents to get fit with Gold's Gym.


One of the most recognizable names in the health club industry is coming to Long Branch, N.J. The operators of Gold's Gym Gold's Gym International, Inc. is an international chain of co-ed fitness centers (commonly referred to as "gyms") originally started in California by Joe Gold. Each gym features a wide array of exercise equipment and personal trainers to assist clients.  have signed a lease for a new state-of-the-art facility at Pier Village Pier Village is a multi-use "lifestyle center" located in Long Branch, New Jersey along the Atlantic Ocean. The new two-story health club will occupy 15,000 s/f of space at the site, reports Applied Development Company, which is developing the community's 420 luxury residential residences and 100,000 s/f of retail space.

Construction is already underway on the new facility, which is expected to open early next spring.

"We're delighted to add Gold's Gym to Pier Village's growing list of exciting retailers," said Greg Russo, an Applied vice president. "We believe a high-end health club is a natural fit for the type of vibrant lifestyle we're creating here."

The new Gold's Gym will be the third facility in Monmouth county opened and operated by Mark and Karen Steinfield, joining gyms in Howell and Point Pleasant Beach.

The Gold's Gym lease signing brings the total square footage accounted for at Pier Village to 68,000 s/f.

"With an exciting mix of restaurants, fashion boutique shops and a unique beach club, we're creating an upscale entertainment and cultural destination that will be active 12 months a year," said Mr. Russo. The company retained nationally-renowned retail specialist Williams Jackson Ewing to help achieve that goal.
