On December 28, 1999, National Commerce Bancorporation and Piedmont Bancorp, Inc. announced an agreement whereby NCBC NCBC Naval Construction Battalion Center (US Navy) NCBC North Carolina Biotechnology Center (Research Triangle Park, NC) NCBC National Concrete Bridge Council (Skokie, IL) will acquire Piedmont Bancorp, Inc., the holding company of Hillsborough Savings Bank, Inc., SSB SSB Statistisk Sentralbyrå (Statistics Norway) SSB Super Smash Bros (video game) SSB Space Studies Board SSB Single Side Band SSB Single Stranded DNA-Binding Protein SSB Salomon Smith Barney , through an exchange of stock. The transaction, expected to close on March 31, 2000, is subject to shareholder and regulatory approval. Once the transaction is completed, NCBC will operate the Hillsborough Savings Bank locations as branches of NBC Bank, FSB, its North Carolina banking subsidiary.
