Pictures of the month; Crowds turn out for big events.
The month finished with Northumberland County Show at Corbridge, attended by more than 25,000 people, and the four-day Evolution music festival on Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides.
In between was the annual Tyne Boat Race, contested by Newcastle and Durham universities, and Race for Life events in Gateshead and Sunderland.
Still on the sporting front, Paul Norris captured this dramatic speedway picture at Newcastle Diamonds versus Somerset on May 18.
And Tim McGuinness was on hand to record couples Janet and Mark Turnbull and Deb and Dave Wilson training for a 1,060-mile Land's End to John O'Groats cycle ride next month for the North East Air Ambulance appeal.
On the culture beat, Anna Cordingley arrived on Tyneside to prepare for next month's attempt to create an eighth bridge on the Tyne - made of bamboo.
