It contains the first official publication of the rules for a new category of performance competition, Piano Duet, in the senior level. About two years ago, the Collaborative Performance Forum was seeking ways to engage the membership and students in more ensemble playing. One suggestion was to involve young pianists in duet playing, and to create events that parallel existing programs in MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) . Thus was born the Collaborative Performance Task Force, which I was asked to chair. Other members were Sylvia Coats, Paul Stewart Paul Stewart is the name of many notable people:

For a first effort, we planned the "Just Duet" sightreading sessions at the national conference in Austin last year. Composers were invited to provide scores for teachers to read, led by inspiring conductors. Not only did the participants have the pleasure of ensemble playing, but also sightreading was promoted as an integral part of our teaching and performing lives. I hope you were able to participate. Another project that the Task Force proposed was a student competition category for duet performance. Our concept was to involve younger students in an activity that involved both reading and performance, hoping to enchant them with the joys and benefits of both. We tried to structure the competition for two possible possible student combinations: two students from one teacher or two students from two teachers. In the latter, not only would the students collaborate, but also the teachers might find inspiration in working with another professional. You will find the specific rules in the competition section, starting page 32, and find particularly the Senior level for more details. To simplify staging the competition, particularly at the state level, the duet competition will be limited to one piano, four hands. I hope that you will consider assigning this delightful repertoire Repertoire may mean Repertory but may also refer to:
