Physician Organization Endorses Jeb Bush for Governor.


TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 8, 1998--Today, the Florida Medical Association's Political Action Committee (FLAMPAC FLAMPAC Florida Medical Political Action Committee ) announced it has endorsed Jeb Bush John Ellis "Jeb" Bush (born February 11, 1953) is an American politician, and was the 43rd Governor of Florida as well as the first Republican to be re-elected to that office. He is a prominent member of the Bush family: the younger brother of current President George W.  for Governor.

"The FLAMPAC Board of Directors, composed of physicians and physician spouses from every area of the state, voted overwhelmingly to endorse Jeb Bush for Governor," according to according to

"Physicians are the true advocates for patients," stated FLAMPAC Vice President Miguel A. Machado, M.D., of Coral Gables Coral Gables, city (1990 pop. 40,091), Miami-Dade co., SE Fla., SW of Miami; inc. 1925. Founded at the height of the Florida land boom, Coral Gables is a noted planned city, with tree-lined boulevards and Mediterranean-style buildings. , "We believe patients should have the right to choose their own physician. Jeb agrees with us on this issue."

Dr. Altenburger added, "Jeb knows that important medical decisions must be made by physicians and their patients. The insurance company's concern about profit must be secondary to this principle."

This is only the second time in its history that FLAMPAC has endorsed a candidate for Governor. In 1994, FLAMPAC also endorsed Jeb Bush for Governor.
