Photoluminescent pigment offers low specific gravity.

This photoluminescent material can charge in either artificial or natural light and will glow for at least 12 hours. This photoluminescent pigment technology uses a new material that is said to have all the benefits of strontium strontium (strŏn`shēəm) [from Strontian, a Scottish town], a metallic chemical element; symbol Sr; at. no. 38; at. wt. 87.62; m.p. 769°C;; b.p. 1,384°C;; sp. gr. 2.6 at 20°C;; valence +2. , without the drawbacks. One of those drawbacks is said to be a high specific gravity specific gravity, ratio of the weight of a given volume of a substance to the weight of an equal volume of some reference substance, or, equivalently, the ratio of the masses of equal volumes of the two substances. . Strontium is very dense, so it has been hard to integrate into plastics and other materials, according to according to

the manufacturer. The company is said to be able to get this new material down to a low specific gravity to match the specific gravity of the host medium.

This pigment can be integrated into a variety of bases, such as compound plastics (both extruded and injection molded), resins, silicone bases, solvent-based paint systems and water-based paint systems. In fact, the crystals in their processed form can be added into just about anything, provided the medium is opaque or clear in its final appearance.

The pigment can also be combined with fluorescent colors to improve the performance of safety items.
