Phoenix Pictures Takes to Orbit With a Five-Picture Deal.

In a move designed to expand Phoenix Pictures' business and creative content activities, Phoenix Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Mike Medavoy and President and Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Phoenix's deal with Orbit's principals, Dror Soref and Lee Nelson, is composed of Orbit's producing five pictures for Phoenix over a three-year period; a first-look arrangement; and an equity participation by Phoenix in Orbit designed to significantly bolster Orbit's commercial and feature-film activities.

Soref, Nelson and company Vice President Kevin Moreton will produce. The pact includes Orbit founder Soref directing an as-yet-to-be-identified project and allows other Orbit directors the ability to direct Phoenix-approved features.

Currently, Phoenix has in production the Arnold Schwarzenegger/ Robert Duvall actioner, "The Sixth Day," being directed by Roger Spottiswoode, who is represented by Orbit for commercials. Orbit's roster of directors, in addition to Soref and Spottiswoode, includes Wim Wenders, Carroll Ballard, Don Barnard Don Barnard (b. 1942) is a British cannabis campaigner.
