Since the company was founded in 1997, it's raised a total of $36 million, said Shane Chalke, founder and chief executive officer. The company was launched with $8.5 million in investments in 1998, followed by a $20 million infusion from investors in May 2000, he said.

"We wanted to top off our balance sheet to leave no question in our customers' minds that we are healthy and viable," Chalke said.
