Phillips Announces Board to Underpin International Growth.

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2000

Phillips, the international fine art auctioneers, today announced the appointment of a non-executive board of directors. The formation of this six-member board follows the appointment in April of Lord Powell of Bayswater as Chairman of Phillips and comes at a time where Phillips is expanding rapidly and asserting its presence as a significant player on the international art stage.

The board comprises highly regarded and prominent individuals from the worlds of international business and the arts. This distinguished group's collective experience constitutes a formidable base for Phillips' continuing growth, following its acquisition by LVMH LVMH Moët Hennessy-Louis Vuitton (upscale retailer)  Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton in November 1999.

Senator Mario d'Urso

Senator d'Urso has held important positions in the Italian government and legislature and is currently a Senator of the Italian Republic. In 1995 he was nominated Under Secretary for Foreign Trade. Before joining the government, Mr. d'Urso was a Managing Director at Lehman Brothers from 1968 to 1994. Mario d'Urso is a Director of St. James Place Capital plc and of GAM Pan European Inc. In addition, he is President of The Italy Fund, a closed-end mutual fund listed in New York with assets invested in Italian securities.

Mr J Carter Brown

J Carter Brown has been associated with the National Gallery of Art in Washington since 1961. He served as Director of the museum from 1969 to 1992 and then as Director Emeritus. He is also Chairman of the Presidentially-appointed Commission of Fine Arts in Washington, a post he has held since 1971; of OVATION, since 1993; and of the Pritzker Architecture Prize Pritzker Architecture Prize
