Philips Semiconductors North America honors suppliers.


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 1997--Philips Semiconductors North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  will honor six of its suppliers with the company's 1996 Supplier of the Year Award today in Albuquerque.

The winning companies, located throughout the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , supply such things as chemicals, gases and silicon wafers to Philips' manufacturing facilities in Albuquerque and Sunnyvale, Calif.

Only about a fifth of Philips' major suppliers qualify for this award, which has been in existence for more than 10 years. Philips bases this award on overall performance and continuous improvement. The company rates its suppliers in five areas: technology, quality, reliability, dependability and cost.

"Philips' relationships with its customers are dependent to a large degree on its relationships with its suppliers," said Ross Anderson, senior vice president and general manager of Philips' Application Specific and Logic Business Group. "It's extremely important that our suppliers are themselves customer-oriented and quality-driven, and these are the suppliers we are honoring today." Anderson's group includes the Albuquerque and Sunnyvale plants.
