Optimized for LCD TV applications, the PNX5000 enables world-class picture quality by being the first scaler on the market to integrate motion compensated de-interlacing. The addition of the PNX5000 scaler to the Nexperia Home semiconductor portfolio enhances Philips' prime position in technological advancements within the LCD TV market and highlights its ongoing dedication to offering solutions for the Connected Consumer. Aside from benefiting from quick time to market and high picture quality, the PNX5000 works seamlessly with the Ultimate One Chip (UOC UOC Universitat Oberta de Catalunya

Early-adopter consumers of mid and high-end LCD television sets now expect the latest devices to already anticipate their respective needs. Such consumer devices now require technologies that will respond appropriately to the dynamic and ever-changing television environment. According to DisplaySearch, LCD television shipment units are expected to grow from almost 10 million in 2004 to more than 32 million units by 2007. The growth within this particular market is driven by consumers' preference for flat-screen TV solutions and rapid advancements in screen resolution and picture improvement techniques. As a seamless addition to the Ultimate One Chip system solution, Philips' Nexperia based PNX5000 scaler device is testament to living up to current and future market demand.

"The PNX5000 scaler device enables world-class picture quality and is the first scaler on the market to integrate motion compensated de-interlacing," said Jos Klippert, marketing director LCD TV at Philips Semiconductors. "Its unique compatibility with the industry standard Ultimate One Chip video processor and software stack enables a highly integrated complete LCD TV system solution. Philips is the only company which can currently offer this total system solution."

The PNX5000 scaler device includes capabilities such as advanced 3D motion compensated de-interlacing (MCDI MCDI Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative ), edge dependent de-interlacing (EDDI EDDI

), movie mode, 3D Digital Noise Reduction, bit mapped OSD and teletext at level 2.5. It also contains a range of advanced picture improvement functions such as DCTI DCTI Consonus Technologies (Cary, NC; stock symbol)

, DLTI DLTI Digital Transient Improvements , dynamic color management, and dynamic color and contrast control. These capabilities provide world-class picture quality at a competitive price. Finally, the PNX5000 solution's seamless combination with the Ultimate One Chip and the GTV (Global TV) system software stack will give manufacturers already using UOC a much quicker time to market benefit than other industry players and bring down their overall expenditure by reusing existing development investments in UOC and GTV based CRT (1) (C RunTime) See runtime library.
