Philanthropy. (Who, What, When & Where).


The Phillips Foundation this month announced the winners of a record $232,000 in merit-based scholarships for the academic year 2003-04 under its Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Future Leaders is a UK schools-led charitable organisation that aims to widen the pool of talented leaders especially for urban challenging secondary schools. It was founded in March 2006 by Nat Wei, a former founder of Teach First.  Scholarship Program. Established in 1999, the Program offers renewable and one-time scholarships to "college undergraduates who demonstrate exceptional achievements as leaders on behalf of freedom, American values, and constitutional principles."

There were 36 new scholarship winners and 17 students who received scholarship renewals. Awards ranged from $10,000 to $1,000 for both renewals and one-time grants.

Notes:
Examples of non-profit organizations are charities, hospitals and schools.
 founded in 1990 to "advance constitutional principles, a democratic society, and a vibrant free enterprise system."

In addition to the Ronald Reagan Future Leaders Scholarship Program, the foundation administers an annual journalism fellowship fellowship Graduate education A post-residency training period of 1–2 yrs in a subspecialty–eg, hand surgery, which allows a specialized physician to develop a particular expertise that may have a related subspecialty board; fellowship time is often  program which provides grants to working print journalists early in their careers.
