and Sao Paulo. The installed eXcel 2000 systems manage over 650,000 PhaseKrypt-based addressable Reachable. When something is addressable, it can be identified and manipulated independently of its surroundings. For example, screen pixels and RAM memory are addressable. Each of the screen's picture elements can be individually turned on and off, and each of the memory's bytes can be  decoders that have been sold by Eastern Electronics to Net Brazil for its cable operations.

"The successful installation of our eXcel 2000 system at Net Brazil is a true testament to the performance and security of Macrovision's PhaseKrypt technology," stated Eugene Yen, president of Eastern Electronics. "With this enormous network installed, we have easily surpassed our initial order of 500,000 set-top decoder units and had to establish a local manufacturing site in Manaus, Brazil to meet price and delivery targets in the region."

"We are very pleased with the success of the eXcel 2000 in the Brazilian market," said Heinz Griesshaber, vice president of transmission system technology support at Macrovision. "In order to ensure the eXcel 2000 network reaches its full potential we will continue to offer our technological expertise to both Eastern and Net Brazil."

Macrovision licenses its patented PhaseKrypt technology to cable TV hardware manufacturers, such as Eastern Electronics, for development of complete analog addressable Pay TV systems. PhaseKrypt uniquely employs advanced digital video encoding for signal security while using analog decoding de·code
