PharmaDesign, Protosera Jointly Identify New Peptide Ligand and Receptor.

Tokyo, Japan, Oct 20, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - PharmaDesign announced on October 19 that it has obtained successful results from collaboration with Protosera in searching peptide ligands.

Specifically, the two companies have identified a new peptide ligand ligand (lĭg`ənd), charged or uncharged molecule with one or more unshared pairs of electrons that can attach to a central metallic atom or ion to form an aggregate known as a complex ion (see chemical bond).  and its receptor using PharmaDesign's proprietary GPCR GPCR Guanine Nucleotide-Binding Protein-Coupled Receptor
GPCR GTP-binding Protein-Coupled Receptor
(G-protein-coupled receptor) peptide ligand library PharmaGPEP and Protosera's products for searching membrane proteins and ligands such as BlotChip and Membrane Protein Library.

Going forward, the two companies plan to promote collaboration by leveraging bio-venture companies' core technologies with a view to expanding the drug discovery business.
