) - Pfizer Japan Inc. has received the approval of Genotropin for Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency growth hormone deficiency Hypopituitarism Endocrinology A condition which affects 1:4000 children; ♂:♀, 3-4:1 Etiology 70% of GHD is idiopathic and attributed to a prenatal insult, possibly due to hypothalamic dysfunction, given that GHD children  patients (aGHD). Genotropin is considered the top drug in this market and has been certified in 66 countries worldwide.

The drug has proved effective for Turner Syndromes and for children with hormone growth deficiencies. The drug is also used in adults to treat growth failure and to treat weight loss caused by acquired immunodeficiency syndrome acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, see AIDS.  (AIDS).

Some side effects included edema (21.6%), arthritic pain (10.8%) and muscle weakness (10.8%) according to the Phase III Clinical Trial Noun 1. phase III clinical trial - a large clinical trial of a treatment or drug that in phase I and phase II has been shown to be efficacious with tolerable side effects; after successful conclusion of these clinical trials it will receive formal approval from the  in Japan.
