. There is, however, a big gap in oral care efforts among the three groups. While the majority of the dentists and dental hygienists, 79.6% and 87.4%, respectively, care their teeth thoroughly, only 29.7% of the general public take such care.

Only 15.7% of the general public believe that they can keep 20 or more of their own teeth when they turn 80 years old. Meanwhile, 71.8% of the dentists and 82.5% of the dental hygienists answered that they have confidence in keeping their teeth healthy even when they get older.

Regarding patient awareness of oral care, both dentists and dental hygienists mentioned that it has been improved over the past several years.
