PETROLEOS DE VENEZUELA Venezuela (vĕnəzwā`lə, Span. vānāswā`lä), officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, republic (2005 est. pop. 25,375,000), 352,143 sq mi (912,050 sq km), N South America. (PDVSA PDVSA Petroleos De Venezuela, SA ), Venezuela's state-owned oil
company, will invest US$52.8 million in technological upgrades at its El
Palito refinery in Carabobo state. The four-year investment will improve
gasoline gasoline or petrol, light, volatile mixture of hydrocarbons for use in the internal-combustion engine and as an organic solvent, obtained primarily by fractional distillation and "cracking" of petroleum, but also obtained from natural gas, by production capacity.
