 of Lufthansa Systems North America has appointed Peter von Moltke (45) as president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , effective June 3, 2002. Peter von Moltke succeeds John Meier-Funke who managed the American subsidiary for the last four years.

Peter von Moltke has had a long and distinguished career in the IT and aviation marketplace. Starting in 1980 as performance engineer at Boeing, he has held various leadership positions, including senior vice president marketing and sales, for System One Corporation, AADT AADT Annual Average Daily Traffic  and Sabre Group, as well as president of AMR (1) (Adaptive Multi-Rate) A variable rate speech codec selected by the 3GPP for the 3G evolution of the GSM cellphone system (WCDMA). Using the Algebraic CELP (ACELP) compression technology, AMR provides toll quality sound at transmission rates from 4.75 to 12.  Information Services See Information Systems. . In 1999 he moved to Unisys, where he was responsible for all transportation industry related activities in the Asia/Pacific region and subsequently for the worldwide Unisys business in this industry sector.
