The British Sandwich Association, have elected PATRICK SIMPSON, the managing director of The Food Service Centre, tel:[phone], to serve as its chairman for the next twelve months. Patrick has spent some 30 years in the food industry and set up the Food Service Centre in 1989, providing a management service to sandwich and snackfood retailers.

Holmes Farm, tel:[phone], the Warrington-based butchers and meat packers, have appointed GARY HOLMES as director of the company. Gary, has worked for Holmes Farm for over ten years in a purchasing role and will continue as head of all purchasing.

Peter Hunt's Bakery Foods, tel:[phone], have appointed THERESA SIMPSON-HOPE as an additional national account manager. Theresa has worked for Hunt's for three years and will be primarily responsible for the development of their Asda account.

MARK MANSER has been appointed the new production planning manager at Ardo Shearway, tel:[phone]. Mark joins after nine years at Zeneca Agrochemicals and will responsible for the operation of the Sheanway's Headcorn factory.

David Michael & Co, tel:[phone], have made two major appointments at their affiliate, David Michael Flavour Company Ltd, Beijing. KEVIN LIU becomes deputy general manager while YUE JIAN PING has been promoted to assistant general manager - technical/operations.

M.Y. Plastics have announced three internal promotions to strengthen their management team. JEREMY SAMPSON moves to divisional sales director, PETER DUNNING to divisional technical director, while JERRY HAINES will assume Mr Dunning's former responsibilities as site director

Nico Foods, tel:[phone], have appointed ALAN FEATHERSTONE as their first sales director. Alan spent seven years at Canadian Pizza (UK), and grew to be food service sales director. He had previously worked for Hazlewood Foods.

Speciality food manufacturer, Bennett Opie, tel:[phone], have appointed DARRIL LING to the new position of business account manager. Darril's previous employers include CPC, John West and Kerry Ingredients.

ANTONIO SPAGNOLO has been appointed Heinz managing director, Infant Feeding Europe, tel:[phone]. Antonio began his career at Unilever and has also worked for Johnson Wax, Bertolli, CPC Bestfoods and Danone. He moves up from managing director, Southern Europe Infant Feeding.

Following a restructuring at Canterbury Food's operation management function, the company have made the following appointments: BERNIE CURTIS is regional director for all burger production. PHIL PAUL is regional director for five factories producing sausages, savoury pastries, cooked products and components. Overseeing both men is operations director PAUL MOBBS.

The American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS), fax:[phone], have announced the scheduled retirement of JIM LYON, the executive vice president, effective mid-2002. My Lyon has been the chief staff official for AOCS since 1971. His replacement is yet to be decided.

Richmond Ice Cream Company, tel:[phone], have strengthened their sales team with two senior appointments. RACHEL SHIELS is the new national accounts manager, responsible for expanding the company's links with Sainsbury's. Rachel has held similar positions at Nestle UK and Dalepak Foods.

HELEN JOU becomes co-manufacturing brand manager. She has recently spent six years at Orchid Drinks Ltd.

Baxters, tel:[phone], have appointed two new sales managers. KEITH MOORE, with experience at Geest Plc and Asda joins to become business development manager for Baxters' chilled and ambient products. Meanwhile, ANDY MUTTON brings experience from the New Zealand Dairy Board to become business sector manager for the wholesale and convenience sector.

ADM, the suppliers of food ingredients, have created a pan-European technical and sales team for their Lecithin Specialities Division, tel:[phone].
