Perrier back on market

New shipments of Perrier's sparkling water arrived on French shelves March 1 bearing a special label showing they were bottled after the recent worldwide recall of the brand, when traces of benzene were discovered in several bottles in several countries, the company announced.

In Paris, Source Perrier SA told its domestic distributors that sales representatives would visit each account to collect those bottles that had been withdrawn sale.

Across the Atlantic, Perrier Group of America unveiled a new advertising campaign designed to smooth the return of the brand in the U.S.

The new ads, designed by Burson-Marsteller's ad group, are expected to air immediately and will focus on the fact that Perrier is pure. Additionally, Hal Riney & Partners, San Francisco, is currently developing a separate campaign timed to coincide with the return of Perrier to American shelves. Industry people expect these ads will replace the agency's "It's perfect. It's Perrier." campaign that had been running prior to the withdrawal.
