Performix Inc. joins Powersoft Corp.'s CODE Partners Program -- improved client/server applications in the works.MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 1994--PERFORMIX Inc. today announced it has joined Powersoft in the Client/Server Open Development Environment (CODE) Program, which unites Powersoft with its partners in the development of enterprise-wide, business critical client/server applications in an open systems environment. This agreement comes on the heels of PERFORMIX's successful release last month of EMPOWER/CS, its unique client/server load testing Load testing is the process of creating demand on a system or device and measuring its response. In mechanical systems it refers to the testing of a system to certify it under the appropriate regulations (LOLER in the UK - Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment tool. As part of the program, PERFORMIX will customize EMPOWER/CS to make it compatible with PowerBuilder. Software developers working with PowerBuilder will be able to use EMPOWER/CS to test their application's performance in a multi-user environment. "We welcome Performix to the CODE program," said Bill Critch, director of business alliance programs at Powersoft Corp. "Thanks to the tight integration fostered by the CODE Program, EMPOWER/CS will allow developers working with PowerBuilder to do load testing of applications before the applications are deployed. This will help ensure an even better performance of applications built with PowerBuilder." EMPOWER/CS captures and replays the activities of client/server applications running on MS-Windows PCs, including applications developed using PowerBuilder. It stress tests a database server by running multiple scripts from one driver to simulate simulate - simulation the load of multiple PCs. The database server assumes the load is originating from hundreds of PCs, and services the requests appropriately. Until now, companies attempting to load test client/server applications have been forced to assemble one PC for each user supported by the system -- which could be hundreds or thousands of PCs.
