Performers start passing the hat for tsunami relief.

A number of benefit performances and events are scheduled for the next week, with proceeds slated to assist several relief organizations.

First up is a show at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Coffee Grove Cooperative, 510 E. Main St., Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery). . Apex Blue and Lions Pride will perform. Admission is free, but the hat will be passed to collect donations for tsunami relief efforts.

At 4 p.m. Sunday, Cozmic Pizza, 199 W. Eighth Ave., will play host to the StageHog Benefit Challenge. Admission to this all-ages show is free, with donations gladly accepted.

Donations will be directed to the American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross. , and patrons can choose to send their money to the International Tsunami Relief Fund or the Disaster Relief Fund to assist recent U.S. flood victims.

Music will be provided by Jerry & the StageHogs, Dan Henson, Rob Tobias and Friends, Bill Willie Blues and Brook Adams.

The StageHogs have challenged other venues and musicians to set up similar events throughout the Northwest.

On Sunday night Sunday Night, later named Michelob Presents Night Music, was an NBC late-night television show which aired for two seasons between 1988 and 1990 as a showcase for jazz and eclectic musical artists.  at the WOW Hall, 291 W. Eighth Ave., Craig Einhorn, Glenno, Linh Renken, the Sugar Beets and Windhorse will perform at a show and dinner to benefit the AMURT AMURT Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team  and AMURTEL Tsunami Fund.

AMURT is a disaster relief agency based in India. AMURTEL is its sister organization, founded to focus on the needs of women and children.

Food will be donated by Cafe Soriah, Cornucopia cornucopia (kôr'nykō`pēə), in Greek mythology, magnificent horn that filled itself with whatever meat or drink its owner requested. , Sundance Market, Ring of Fire, Sweet Life and others. The doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20, but additional donations will be accepted.

On Friday, Jan. 28, a benefit dinner and concert will be held at the Lane Events Center Performance Hall, 796 W. 13th Ave. The event is sponsored by Hand to Hand: Lane County Tsunami Relief; all proceeds will benefit Direct Relief International's tsunami relief work in Asia and Africa.

Dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and will include Indian, Middle Eastern and Italian fare.

The caterers are Marche, Cafe Soriah, Mazzi's, Beppe & Gianni's, Taste of India, Ambrosia ambrosia (ămbrō`zhə), in Greek mythology, food and drink with which the Olympian gods preserved their immortality. Extraordinarily fragrant, ambrosia was probably conceived of as a purified and idealized form of honey.  and others.

From 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., a number of performers will take the stage, including the Eugene Peace Choir, Solala, Americanistan, Degirido, Damaka Bhan- gra Dance Group, Jackstraw jack·straw

A silent auction is planned, and activities for children will be available.

Admission is $20, $50 or $100. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.

And then Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29 and 30, Cozmic Pizza will host screenings of James Twyman's film "Indigo." Showtimes are 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Jan. 29, and 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 30.

Admission is $10, with 50 percent of proceeds dedicated to disaster relief efforts.
