What's the goal of Northwest Beat? "To be one of the driving forces behind creating a thriving urban music industry in the Northwest. We help connect people, help shape careers. What's wrong with the music industry? "Everything is based on formulas. The artists aren't necessarily treated fairly. (Record companies) don't necessarily listen to what the people want - they just do the math, `These people in this market listen to this.' It's not an interactive process."

Why focus on the music community, instead of your own career? "I believe I could go somewhere else and be a successful artist, but for longevity's sake, for the sake of pride and community, it'd be much more worth it for me to stay here and make this happen."
