While addressing the strengths and weaknesses of several proposed statistical tools, Simpson suggested that employers should question to what extent the OFCCP's techniques are appropriate for analyzing their selection and pay decisions.

According to Simpson, attendees should analyze their hiring, promotion and termination decisions, as well as their compensation practices, on a regular basis, either internally or by hiring a statistical expert. Thus positioning themselves to detect any patterns of discrimination prior to an audit by the OFCCP.

Since the American Association for Affirmative Action was founded in 1974, the organization has hosted the AAAA annual conference for participants to gather information from speakers in the business, education and government sectors about the development and enhancement of equal opportunity, affirmative action, human resources, diversity and legal affairs programs.
