PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT) today announced that PeopleSoft 8 eStore has set a record performance benchmark for capturing online orders. In the benchmark test, PeopleSoft's pure internet web commerce application handled peak volumes of more than 1,086,720 sales order lines per day.

The benchmark simulated 300 concurrent users entering a five-line order transaction and produced 1,086,720 sales order lines per day. Even when running on a moderate-sized machine of 8 CPUs, PeopleSoft eStore processed 45,280 lines per hour, far beyond the heaviest online purchasing demands.

PeopleSoft 8 eStore is a pure internet business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) web commerce application. PeopleSoft eStore integrates seamlessly with the supply chain, allowing both businesses and consumers to enter orders and quotes, check order status and inventory availability, maintain addresses and user profile information, and browse product catalogs in real-time. The application delivers a personalized experience for buyers. Analysis tools also measure and maximize eCommerce profitability.

The PeopleSoft 8 eStore benchmark test was performed on a Compaq ProLiant 8000 Server, running Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0. The configuration included one 8-Way database server, six 4-way application servers, two 4-way web servers, and two 4-way driver boxes. All servers were running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server Enterprise Edition, except the web servers, which were running Compaq Tru64 Unix 4.0F.
