OBITUARIES The Schaumburg Park District (Ill.) lost longtime Park Commissioner John Brandenburg on Jan. 20, because of heart failure. Brandenburg had been a park district commissioner for nearly 30 years. He played a key role in helping the park district earn two prestigious gold medal awards from the National Sports Foundation. The Schaumburg Park District also lost another veteran park official. Assistant Director Jerry Baer died Jan. 19 from complications related to cancer. Baer worked for the park district for 25 years as an accountant who prepared all of the park district's budgets and financial reports. Rohland H. "Rollie" Kerkhoff died Jan. 20, at the age of 62. Kerkhoff had previously worked as the Taunton recreation director from 1967 to 1970. He held a similar position in Sylvania, Ga., from 1961 to 1967. Mr. Kerkhoff worked at S&S Arts and Crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant.
