As Johnson County's chief ranger, he is the administrator of one of the most respected park police units in the country. OBITUARIES Anita Buchanan, wife of longtime NRPA member Edsel Buchanan, passed away February 27 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease Alzheimer's disease (ăls`hī'mərz, ôls–), degenerative disease of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex that leads to atrophy of the brain and senile dementia. . She is survived by her husband of 47 years; sons, Steven and Stanley; daughter, Stella; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Anita was a great supporter of the Nebraska Recreation & Park Association (NeRPA) and attended numerous state conferences and board meetings. Honored as the NeRPA Special Award recipient in 1993, she was a wonderful individual whose input and inspiration as a supportive wife and an advocate of the recreation profession will never be forgotten. NeRPA made a donation to the Nebraska Alzheimer's Association in Anita's memory. |
