In honor of his father, who was inducted into The DMA Hall of Fame in 1978, Pete established the Henry Hoke ECHO Award in 1953 to honor "the most courageous solution to a difficult sales problem." Pete Hoke was also an active supporter of the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation, Direct Marketing Day In New York's Educational Foundation, and The DMA Echo Awards. Joining Hoke in the Hall of Fame this October is copywriter and direct mail innovator William North William North (1755 - January 3 1836) was a United States Senator representing the state of New York. North was born in Fort Frederick, Pemaquid (part of Bristol, Maine), in 1755, where he attended the common schools. Jayme (see article this issue, p. 1).
