Rhein Chemie names Wolfgang Kober president

Wolfgang U. Kober has been appointed president of Rhein Chemie Corp., which manufactures and sells additives and specialty products for the rubber, plastics and lubricant oil industries. Rhein Chemie is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bayer Corp. Kober joined Rhein Chemie Rheinau in Mannheim, Germany in 1989 where he recently served as head of corporate planning. Before joining Rhein Chemie, Kober worked with Fraunhofer Institute for Systems Technology and Innovational Research and with Hewlitt Packard.

E.M. "Gene" Corbett, Jr., president/CEO of Harwick Standard Distribution, has announced retirement after 30 years of service with the company.

Corbett began his career with Harwick Standard in 1970. He was promoted to vice president of sales in 1981 and was appointed president/CEO in 1995.

In September 1997, Corbett led the sale of Harwick Chemical's manufacturing business. He headed the company's restructuring to concentrate on the distribution of raw materials as Harwick Standard Distribution Corporation.

Jeff Buda, a 13-year Harwick veteran, will succeed Corbett as president/CEO.
