McElya named Cooper president

Jim McElya was appointed president of Cooper-Standard Automotive.

Prior to this appointment, McElya served as president of the company's fluid systems division.

He served as president of Siebe Automotive Worldwide, which was acquired by Cooper in January. He joined the Siebe organization in 1996.

Before joining Siebe, McElya was president of Handy & Harman Automotive and corporate vice president of its parent company, Handy & Harman. During his 22 year career with Handy & Harman, he held various executive management positions. He attended West Chester West Chester, borough (1990 pop. 18,041), seat of Chester co., SE Pa., W of Philadelphia; inc. 1799. Primarily residential, West Chester was long the trade and processing center for an agricultural region that is now mainly suburbs.  University.

Harold Seger was named technical director of Patch Rubber. Bernard McNamara was named director of engineering, maintenance and facilities for the company.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers The Society of Manufacturing Engineers [1] (SME) is dedicated to bringing people and information together to advance manufacturing knowledge. SME is internationally recognized by manufacturing practitioners, companies and other organizations as a source for information,  named the following John T. Parsons John T. Parsons (October 13, 1913 – April 19, 2007) pioneered numerical control for machine tools in the 1940s.

Brewer named IISRP IISRP International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers  president

Thomas Brewer, general manager of Dexco Polymers, a Dow/ Exxon partnership, was elected international president of the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers.

Brewer succeeds Karl-Heinz Geigl, Dow-BSL Synthetic Rubber.

Brewer graduated from the University of Florida University of Florida is the third-largest university in the United States, with 50,912 students (as of Fall 2006) and has the eighth-largest budget (nearly $1.9 billion per year). UF is home to 16 colleges and more than 150 research centers and institutes.  and joined Exxon Chemical's adhesives business unit in 1974. He held positions in manufacturing, technology, business planning and marketing.

In the late 1980s, Brewer led efforts that brought about the formation of Dexco Polymers. He was named to his present position with the company in 1998.
