IRSG IRSG - Internet Research Steering Group  appoints new secretary general

A.F.S. Budiman was appointed secretary general for the International Rubber Study Group.

Budiman began his career in 1968 as a research officer with the Institute for Research Crops in Bogor, Indonesia. In 1983, he became expert assistant to the junior minister for the development of estate crops. In 1988, Budiman was appointed to his recent position as executive director of Gapkindo, the Rubber Association of Indonesia.

During Budiman's tenure with Gapkindo, Indonesia has become the second largest producer of natural rubber in the world. He has been part of IRSG's committee of expert rubber statisticians Statisticians or people who made notable contributions to the theories of statistics, or related aspects of probability, or machine learning: A to E
  • Odd Olai Aalen (1947–)
  • Gottfried Achenwall (1719–1772)
  • Abraham Manie Adelstein (1916–1992)
 and industry advisory panel since 1990.

Budiman replaces M.E. Cain, who is retiring.

TECHNICAL

Ben Smith joined Magpower as application engineer.

MANAGEMENT

Franz Reiterer was named president of Engel North America.

Rod Millhof will lead the newly-formed Cooper-Standard Automotive's global sealing division. Frank Burnside will lead the North American North American

 sealing division. The European sealing division will be headed by Brian Batey. The vibration control division will be led by Paul Gilbert. Ted McQuade will lead the plastics division. John Fahl will lead the North American tire division. Oliver Rubber, a Cooper Tire division, will be led by Larry Enders. Teknor Apex promoted five business managers to vice presidents. They are: Robert Brookman, Alan Bruder, Louis Cappuci, John Cubbal and John McGrath. Charles Brereton was named product manager of custom molded rubber products for Teknor Apex.

David Fisher was appointed vice president of operations for Elementis Specialties.

Lou Perfetti was appointed plant manager for Goodyear Chemical's Beaumont, TX polymer facility.

French Oil Mill Machinery promoted Jason McDaniel to director of engineering.

Minerals Technologies appointed Anton Dulski and Paul Saueracker senior vice presidents.

Vitex Systems named Michael Sullivan president.

Wilma Kirkley joined Louis P. Batson as administrative assistant.

SALES

Ken Paul was appointed territory manager for DSM 1. DSM - Data Structure Manager.

 Elastomers Americas' sales and technical service department. Paul McKinstry was promoted to marketing manager for the company's automotive business.

Elementis Performance Polymers appointed Robert Rothfeder technical sales representative.

Specialty Minerals hired Dennis Shaffer as western regional sales manager.

Matthew West was named manager of non-tire reports for the Rubber Manufacturers Association.

Louis Hegedus, Elf Atochem, was elected chairman of the chemical engineering section of the National Academy of Engineering.

The Automotive International Association elected Mitch Bennett, Qualitee International, chairman.

RETIREES

Karl Pieper will retire from Engel North America. After retirement, Pieper will serve the company as a member of its board of directors.

William Hattendorf will retire-from Cooper Tire & Rubber, after 36 years of employment.

Mike Burns retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber.
