Rathbun, Lancaster open plant in GA

Pinnacle Elastomeric Technology, a manufacturer of fluoroelastomer compounds, custom mixing, chemical and color dispersions, opened in November in Braselton, GA. Co-founders Bob Rathbun Bob Rathbun is a sports television announcer. He has been the announcer for the Atlanta Hawks basketball games on FSN South since 1996. He is currently partnered with Steve Smith.  and Dennis Lancaster each have over 25 years experience in the rubber industry. Rathbun spent sixteen years with Cabot and most recently was vice president of marketing for Elastomeric Technologies, the parent company of Preferred Rubber Compounding and Crossville Rubber. Lancaster was a technical service development manager for molded products at Cabot. Along with mixing capabilities, the company offers technical consultation services to fluoroelastomer users. Pinnacle has a 7,500 square foot climate controlled facility and a complete testing and development lab facility with ODR ODR Online Dispute Resolution

AWARDS

Steven W. Forster of the Federal Highway Administration The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is a division of the United States Department of Transportation that specializes in highway transportation. The agency's major activities are grouped into two "programs," The Federal-aid Highway Program and the Federal Lands Highway  received the 1998 Prevost Hubbard Award, presented annually by the American Society of Testing and Materials Committee D-4 on road and paving materials. A member since 1978, Forster was given the award for distinguished leadership and standard-swriting contributions to the committee.

The Inter-Society Color Council selected Danny C. Rich to receive its Nickerson Service Award. The award is designed to recognize outstanding long-term contributions toward the advancement of the committee and its aims and purposes.

John R. Hall, who retired from Ashland in 1997, will receive the Petrochemical Heritage Award for his outstanding contributions to the petrochemical community.

Roy Vagelos, formerly chairman and CEO of Merck & Company, will receive the 1999 Othmer Gold Medal from the Chemical Heritage Foundation for his enduring contributions to our chemical and scientific heritage.

Garland T. Duke, Jr., a pioneer in the aircraft retreading industry, and Pauline Chambers Yost, president and CEO of Tech International, have been inducted into the International Tire Retreading and Repairing Hall of Fame. Yost is the first woman to receive this honor since the Hall of Fame's inception in 1985.
