Big moment for small girl

Sunday's winter storm almost derailed the arena debut of 6-year-old Rachel E. Welsh of Worcester, but she and three other children will finally get their chance to sing with Kenny Rogers tonight in a Christmas concert.

The children will participate in the second half of the concert, which begins at 7:30 at the Paul E. Tsongas Arena in Lowell. It was originally scheduled for Sunday.Rogers selects local children or choirs to participate in each show, and Rachel, a kindergartener at Flagg Street School who dreams of becoming a rock star, was chosen after a Dec. 1 audition in Worcester.
