Penton Media to launch "Responder Safety" magazine & new show.


Penton Media's (Cleveland, OH) Occupational Hazards occupational hazard n. a danger or risk inherent in certain employments or workplaces, such as deep-sea diving, cutting timber, high-rise steel construction, high-voltage electrical wiring, use of pesticides, painting bridges, and many factories.  magazine will begin the publication of Responder Safety magazine with an issue in October. The new tabloid--sized title will be produced quarterly beginning in 2003 and will have a controlled circulation of 20,000.

The title will be targeted to "highly influential" emergency response professionals including: state and federal emergency response managers; city safety directors, fire chiefs and police captains who oversee and mobilize mo·bi·lize

1. To make mobile or capable of movement.

2. To restore the power of motion to a joint.

3. To release into the body, as glycogen from the liver.
 first responders' efforts; fire and police personnel; and in--plant safety directors who review and purchase the personal protective and emergency response equipment used by plant fire brigades and emergency response teams.

Editorial will include articles on product information and applications, regulatory and legislative news, incident response, state and federal grant information, best practices, training, and industry case studies. The first issue will debut at the National Safety Congress in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. .

In related news, Penton Technology Media (London) will launch the "Mobile Enterprise 2003" trade show in London June 3-5, 2003 to run concurrently with Penton's "Internet World" show. Penton said the new show combines all of its wireless events, including "SMS (1) (Storage Management System) Software used to routinely back up and archive files. See HSM.
