Penthera Broadcast Foundation is a multi-vendor, end-to-end, mobile broadcast test and demonstration environment for use in labs, field trials, demo centers, campuses, trade shows and other pre-commercial service environments. Based on Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld (DVB-H See mobile TV and DVB. ) technology and standards, Penthera Broadcast Foundation is a pre-tested and pre-assembled solution to ensure interoperability. It is offered in a variety of configurations (e.g. hardware and software, or software only) and technology variations (e.g. Windows Media Microsoft's audio and video framework for Windows, which embraces playback, encoding and streaming. Windows Media Player is the digital jukebox and media player that comes with every version of Windows.  or H.264 encoding). It provides a wide range of functionality, from the first step of encoding video and audio content to finally receiving and viewing the content on mobile devices. The system is shipped to a customer and installed in their lab so that, only hours later, they are up and running with DVB-H on a variety of handsets. Penthera Broadcast Foundation also provides customers with a single point of contact for purchasing and supporting a mobile broadcast environment.

Evaluation Environment for Revenue-Generating Services

Penthera software enables basic mobile broadcast services along with advanced services and applications such as advertising, interactivity, filecasting, metering, and branding that increase broadcasters' and operators' average revenue per user (ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) A calculation often used to determine the overall value of an application. It is also used to rate particular customers, especially in the wireless space, by comparing someone's account to the overall average. ). Ultimately, Penthera Broadcast Foundation provides customers with autonomy and isolation to simulate, test and demonstrate mobile broadcast solutions and thereby create and test their own revenue-generating, differentiated solutions. If and when customers are ready to transition to a commercial/live broadcast solution, there is a natural migration path with a field-tested solution.
