Pegasystems Processes 87,000,000 Business Operations By 31,500 Users in 8 Hours; Unprecedented On Demand Enterprise Case Management is World Record.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- In breakthrough performance testing of its business process management (BPM) capabilities, Pegasystems Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGA), today announced performance results of one of the largest scalability tests managed by the IBM Innovation Center in Waltham, MA.

The 31,500-concurrent user test created and processed 3 million unique cases over an 8-hour period. During this rigorous 8-hour exercise, over 138 million database operations were executed and 87.8 million business process operations were transacted. For each of the 87 million operations, the system response time across the board averaged a remarkable .05 seconds. For each work item a case was created with a system managed service level, and subsequent processes invoked work list creation, status updates, case updates, audit history review and case resolution.

The IBM/Pegasystems test ran a SmartBPM solution across a cluster of WebSphere Application Servers and leveraged the service-oriented environment of WebSphere(R) Application Server Network Deployment version 5.1.1. The test ran Pegasystems PegaRULES Process Commander V 4.2 on a heterogeneous array of IBM eServers including xSeries (running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0) as well as pSeries (running on IBM AIX 5.3). The database server - serving as the Pegasystems pan-enterprise rule repository and common process management hub - featured IBM DB2 8.2 and ran AIX 5.3. The disk storage sub-system used was the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server(R) (ESS) Model 800. Pegasystems is the only rules-driven SmartBPM solution to marry both procedural and declarative business rules execution; with this test it is also the first to demonstrate true scalability with 1.1 billion On Demand business rules fired per hour to support a BPM solution.

The latest versions of Pegasystems SmartBPM Suite tested in this environment are generally available now.
