It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and , and the Gros Ventre and Assiniboine Tribes of the Fort Belknap Reservation stating that separate actions have been filed in federal district court alleging that Zortman Mining Inc. and Pegasus have violated provisions of the Clean Water Act.
