Pegasus Disk Technologies Ships InveStore Storage Management Software for Windows NT; New Product Provides Faster Performance and a Richer Set of Features.


ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 1998--Pegasus Disk Technologies, a leading developer of storage management software for optical storage devices, announced today that is now shipping InveStore(TM) Storage Management Software for Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. .

High Performance RAM Caching

InveStore incorporates high performance RAM caching which greatly enhances data retrieval speeds because it keeps the most recently used Most Recently Used (MRU) may refer to:

 data in RAM. Additionally, high performance directory caching allows file searches to be performed at magnetic disk speeds. Multiprocessing on the server allows you to mount and unmount disks, set drive parameters and report errors without disrupting the file server.

New NT Service

InveStore runs as an NT service to provide easier administration and recovery. "What this means is that if the server is brought down suddenly for any reason, InveStore will automatically be restored in the same condition when the system is brought back up," said Slicker. "When you're struggling to get your users back on-line, it's an added value not to worry about restarting your storage management software."

InveStore is a high performance multitasking/multithreading optical file system that provides transparent access to optical storage devices by assigning a drive letter just like a hard drive.
