at affordable pricing. The FS-5900C, an update to the previously announced FS-5800C, is the second PeerlessPowered(TM) Kyocera color laser product.

"We are very pleased with the introduction of the FS-5900C and our continued partnership with Peerless," said Thomas Schafers, product marketing manager at Kyocera Electronics Europe. "Our strategic licensing of Peerless' customizable color technology has enabled us to bring a highly competitive color laser product to the market quickly. We are looking forward to growing our share of the color laser market with this product."

The FS-5900C utilizes a controller design based upon the PeerlessPage Object-Based Imaging model and incorporates a Peerless QuickPrint 1800 acceleration coprocessor to deliver high performance, high quality color printing. The imaging model streamlines the printing process by selecting the optimal rendering technique for each object on the page (text, image, graphic) and storing the object in its own natural form without time consuming compression / decompression processes. As a result, the speed is dramatically increased and storage requirements are vastly reduced. The QuickPrint 1800 coprocessor works with the PowerPC 740/200 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  processor, to provide a high performance concurrent processing See multiprocessing.

 architecture for faster overall performance.

The FS-5900C features Peerless' Windows(TM) drivers, as well as the flexibility and versatility of Peerless' PeerlessPrint 5C, to offer complete compatibility with HP's PCL languages. Peerless' modular driver architecture enables quick time-to-market and provides many standard and special features including n-up printing, watermarks and support for a wide range of paper sizes and engine features. Peerless' popular family of PeerlessPrint(TM) products are designed for ease of customization, sophisticated paper handling, and cross-platform development for a variety of engine types.

"We are very pleased to join Kyocera in introducing another competitive color laser desktop printer product to the European market," said Ron Davis, vice president of Marketing and Product Planning at Peerless. "Kyocera has successfully launched multiple products since 1992 by building their market-specific technologies using Peerless' core imaging software and we are excited at growing our partnership in the color printing market."

The FS-5900C is a 4 page per minute (ppm) color printer and 16 ppm monochrome color desktop printer with 600 and 1200 dpi resolutions. It offers three language emulations: PeerlessPrint 5C (color PCL emulation), PostScript and Kyocera's own PRESCRIBE IIC See infranet. . Additionally, the FS-5900C offers optional networking support of Ethernet, Fast Ethernet or TokenRing, as well as an optional 2GB hard disk for spooling (Simultaneous Peripheral Operations OnLine) The overlapping of low-speed operations with normal processing. Spooling originated with mainframes in order to optimize slow operations such as reading cards and printing.  jobs, making it the ideal color printing solution for networked offices. The FS-5900C is now shipping and is targeted for the European market.

About Peerless Systems

Peerless Systems is a leading provider of software-based embedded imaging and networking systems to original equipment manufacturers of digital document products. Digital document products include printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners and color products, as well as multifunction products that perform a combination of these imaging functions. In order to process digital text and graphics, digital document products rely on a core set of imaging software and supporting electronics, collectively known as an embedded imaging system. Embedded networking systems supply the core software technologies to digital document products that enable them to communicate over local area networks and the Internet.

The Peerless family of products and engineering services provides advanced embedded imaging and networking technologies that enable the company's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  customers to develop digital printers, copiers and multifunction products quickly and cost-effectively. The Peerless Systems Networking subsidiary provides comprehensive software products and engineering services to office peripheral OEMs to support networking in their products.
