Pediatric vocal fold cysts: acute dysphonia.A 12-year-old singer presented with a 1-day history of hoarseness. He had no antecedent illness or phonotrauma, and he had not sung during the 24 hours prior to the onset of his hoarseness. He had toured internationally with a boys choir for 2 years. In addition to singing, he also played the piano, clarinet, and oboe. He had had no previous voice difficulties, but he did experience occasional symptoms of laryngopharyngeal reflux, particularly excessive secretions upon awakening. Strobovideolaryngoscopy revealed the presence of a fluid-filled, deformable cyst cyst, abnormal sac in the body, filled with a fluid or semisolid and enclosed in a membrane.
