Pearson Education acquires Chancery Software, PowerSchool Italian ed.


Pearson Education Pearson Education is an international publisher of textbooks and other educational material, such as multimedia learning tools. Pearson Education is part of Pearson PLC. It is headquartered in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey.  (Upper Saddle giver, NJ/London) has completed three acquisitions, purchasing all the assets of Chancery Software (Lynnwood, WA), PowerSchool from Apple Computers (Cupertino, CA) and 80% of the assets of Paravia Bruno Mondadori Editori (Milan), one of Italy's leading educational publishing companies.

The amount a seller receives from the buyer after costs associated with the sale are deducted.

This amount is calculated by subtracting the following items from gross sales: merchandise returned for credit, allowances for damaged or missing goods, freight
 in 2005 of 70 million [euro] and gross assets of 68 million [euro] at the year end. PBM produces materials for primary and secondary schools across all subjects, including languages, math, science, humanities, literature, social sciences and vocational. In addition, it also publishes university textbooks, teaching materials and dictionaries. The present company was formed in 2000 from the merger of Edizioni Bruno Mondadori and Paravia publishing houses.

Chancery Software is a provider of student information systems (SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) See laser sintering and 3D printing. ) in the K-12 U.S. school market, including tools that manage student information such as enrollments, scheduling, attendence, grading and student performance. It is the second largest SIS company in the U.S. market with an installed base of 6000 schools.

PowerSchool is Apple's SIS division and develops educational content for teachers and students compatible with iPod. It will be merged with Chancery Software at the completion of its purchase. PowerSchool provides K-12 administrators, teachers, students and parents with secure information on student performance, including grades, homework and attendance. Pearson said it will also develop new services for educators and students, including educational content compatible with ipod. Teachers will have access to podcasts on professional development and students will be able to download study guides that are aligned with Pearson texts.

Earlier this year, Apple and Pearson collaborated on producing digital versions of Pearson textbooks and workbooks to California schools via the Mac mini The smallest, lightest and least expensive Macintosh desktop computer. Housed in a case 6.5 x 6.5 x 2", it takes up hardly any space on the desktop, but is a full-fledged Mac with a built-in optical drive and remote control. The monitor, keyboard and mouse are extra cost items. . The new combined Pearson SIS business will be co-located in Folsom, California Folsom is a city in California, United States. Folsom is most commonly known by its famous Folsom Prison, and is a thriving suburb of Sacramento. As of 2007, the State of California's estimate of Folsom's population is 70,835.  and Mesa, Arizona Mesa is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona and part of the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale Metropolitan Area. It is the third-largest city in Arizona, after Phoenix and Tucson.

Mesa is one of the United States' fastest-growing cities, and currently ranks as the 38th-largest.
