Peace advocate to visit.


Canon Naim Ateek The Rev. Dr. Naim Ateek (Arabic: ناعم عتيق, transliteration: Nā’im ’Ateeq , founding president of Sabeel Ecumenical Theology Centre in Jerusalem and author of books on peace and justice in Palestine and Israel, is scheduled to visit Canada from Oct. 17-19.

He will speak on Oct. 18 at Emmanuel College, University of Toronto Emmanuel College is the United Church of Canada seminary of Victoria University at the University of Toronto. It is a member institution of the Toronto School of Theology. , in an event co-sponsored by Jewish peace organizations, and on Oct. 19 at Palestine House, Mississauga, Ont., in a forum sponsored by the Canadian Arab Federation The Canadian Arab Federation was formed in 1967 to represent the interests of Arab Canadians with respect to the formulation of public policy in Canada. It presently consists of over 40 member organizations.  and the Muslim Canadian Congress The Muslim Canadian Congress was organized to provide a voice to Muslims who support a " progressive, liberal, pluralistic, democratic, and secular society where everyone has the freedom of religion." The organization claims to have 300 dues-paying members. .
