As the article pointed out, health issues that are behind bars are also the health issues of the general public. More than 90 percent of all the cons in prison today will get out. That's a lot of Hep C-positive people out there. And ex-cons probably won't have health care, either. So pay now or pay later. We as a society need to start to expect more from our correctional systems. We need to start providing better health care for the cons now. Otherwise this will become a very large and costly problem for every member of society.
