Paxson Communications adds two television stations to its Infomall Television Network.


WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 1996--Paxson Communications Corp. (ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) A relational DBMS from Sybase that runs on Windows NT/2000, Linux and a variety of Unix platforms. ASE is a comprehensive and robust data management product with a long history dating back to the late 1980s. :PXN) announced Thursday Thursday: see week.  that it has expanded its inTV television network by contracting to acquire two major market television stations.

 announced Thursday that is has executed a contract to acquire KAJW TV-51, serving the Phoenix market, the 17th largest television market in the U.S. In a separate transaction, Paxson announced Thursday that it has executed a contract to acquire KMNZ TV-62, serving the Oklahoma City Oklahoma City (1990 pop. 444,719), state capital, and seat of Oklahoma co., central Okla., on the North Canadian River; inc. 1890. The state's largest city, it is an important livestock market, a wholesale, distribution, industrial, and financial center, and a farm  market, the 43rd largest television market in the U.S.

These announced television station transactions continue the expansion of inTV, Paxson's nationwide network of television stations. Including these and previously announced acquisitions, Paxson will own, operate or affiliate with 38 inTV stations in markets containing over 46.8 million television households, including stations in 12 of the 15 largest television markets and 21 of the 30 largest television markets. Since the beginning of 1996, Paxson's inTV network has grown from 15 stations reaching 10.9 million US cable households to a current nationwide network of 30 television stations reaching 15.9 million US cable households. The continued growth of inTV this year has vaulted Paxson's television group to its current ranking as the country's seventh largest television group by Broadcasting & Cable magazine.

Commenting on the announced transactions, Chairman Lowell Lowell, city (1990 pop. 103,439), a seat of Middlesex co., NE Mass., at the confluence of the Merrimack and Concord rivers; settled 1653, set off from Chelmsford 1826, inc. as a city 1836.  "Bud" Paxson said: "These acquisitions allow us to continue our plan of growing our nationwide inTV television operations.
