"Pavilion has helped Michigan Ethanol pass a major milestone with this application," said Chris Karpovich, technical manager for Michigan Ethanol. "We are very pleased with the installation of Pavilion's PEMS technology for monitoring NOx emissions."

Caro, Michigan-based Michigan Ethanol will process nearly 16 million bushels of corn per year into 40 million gallons of ethanol and 120,000 tons of distillers dry grains.

The operating environment for ethanol stacks is prone to extreme conditions that often overburden operators with the costly maintenance of traditional hardware analyzers. Pavilion's Software CEM solution accurately calculates the NOx emissions and reduces the probability of analyzer failure in harsh stack conditions where moisture content can exceed 55 percent and the operating temperatures are very high. With Software CEM, industrial manufacturers can reduce their emissions compliance risk and maintenance costs.

"Pavilion's team works with our customers and regulators to achieve environmental compliance goals in a cost-effective manner," said Matt Tormollen, CMO CMO

for Pavilion. "The success of this project provides leading companies in Michigan with access to Pavilion's software and expertise to address their emissions monitoring requirements."

The ethanol industry continues to expand with additional states focusing on cleaner fuel sources as a way to reduce harmful environmental emissions and decrease reliance on foreign oil. Beginning Jan. 1, 2004, California will require all gasoline to contain an ethanol blend. Similar measures are being taken in states across the U.S.

Pavilion's work with Michigan Ethanol began in November 2002. Pavilion has helped Michigan Ethanol and Broin Companies successfully complete installation and achieve EPA approvals in just six months.

Typical benefits customers experience with Pavilion's Software CEM product include:

-- Minimal initial investment

-- Reduced life-cycle maintenance cost by as much as 50%

-- Higher reliability compliance

The world's largest manufacturers turn to Pavilion's products and expertise to consistently achieve compliance goals, reduce operating costs, increase yield and improve product quality.
