Paul Vaclik, managing director of North Shields-based Broadmedia Technology, has been elected as the new chairpman of the Codeworks Nitro Advisory Board.

BASINGSTOKE-BASED printing firm De La Rue has sold its Sequoia Voting Systems Sequoia Voting Systems is a company based in California, and one of the largest providers of electronic voting systems in the US. Some of its main competitors are Diebold Election Systems and Election Systems & Software.  arm to American firm Smartmatic Corporation for pounds 8.3m.

Braking deal

CHESHIRE-BASED Surface Transforms has signed a contract with METEK to provide braking systems to car manufacturers in France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The firm hopes to make pounds 138,370 within two years.

SOUTHAMPTON-BASED drug developer Synairgen said it had signed a collaboration deal with US biopharmaceutical group Centocor as it announced half-year operating losses of pounds 390,000 against last year's losses of pounds 67,000, in line with expectations.

OIL and gas exploration group BG announced that three long-serving non-executive directors - Keith Mackrell, Elwyn Eilledge and Dame Stella Rimington Dame Stella Rimington, DCB (born May 1935) was the Director-General (DG) of MI5 from 1992 to 1996. She was the first female DG of MI5, and the first DG whose name was publicised on appointment.  - will be standing down from the board at its annual meeting in May.
