Parvus Announces Availability of OrbiTrak(TM) GSM, a PC/104 Tri-Band GSM Cellular Modem Solution with 12-Channel GPS Receiver.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Rugged GSM Modem/GPS Module Now Available for Embedded Mobile Communications and Global Positioning Applications

Parvus Corp. today announced that its new OrbiTrak(TM) GSM is now in stock. This modular PC/104 computer board is designed for intelligent vehicle and airborne computing systems requiring worldwide GSM/GPRS roaming combined with precise GPS positioning.

An ideal solution for demanding mobile/vehicular (bus, rail, ship, air) applications, the OrbiTrak GSM combines wireless tri-band GSM/GPRS connectivity with a low-power, 12-channel parallel-tracking GPS receiver in one highly integrated embedded module. This compact (3.550" x 3.775"), hardened telematics solution is built to resist high mechanical stress, thermal shock Thermal shock in mechanical models

Thermal shock is the name given to cracking as a result of rapid temperature change. Glass and ceramic objects are particularly vulnerable to this form of failure, due to their low toughness, low thermal conductivity, and high
 and extended temperature operation.

The product also features a 4-channel 16C550 UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) The electronic circuit that makes up the serial port. Also known as "universal serial asynchronous receiver transmitter" (USART), it converts parallel bytes from the CPU into serial bits for transmission, and vice  with two RS-232 serial ports free for other devices. Board configuration is done using FlexiSet(TM) EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable ROM) A rewritable memory chip that holds its content without power. Although EEPROMs spawned flash memory, EEPROMs are byte addressable at the write level, whereas flash chips must erase a block of bytes before rewriting.  board settings, which eliminates banks of interrupts and base address jumpers. A 16-bit wide programmable digital I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output.

is provided to interface with other low-power digital devices, along with two automotive-level digital inputs to connect to any 12V or 24V digital signals.

Features
