Parsons Awarded San Diego SR-125 South Project; Parsons Providing Construction Management for 11.5 Miles of San Diego Expressway.
PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 2002
Parsons has recently been awarded a contract by the San Diego Expressway Limited Partnership (SDELP) and California Transportation Ventures (majority owned by Macquarie Infrastructure Group of Australia) to begin construction management on the SR-125 South Project in San Diego County. Parsons will provide overall review and construction management for the design-build contracts, which have a construction value in excess of $300 million.
Scheduled for a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, October 23rd, the SR-125 South Project will offer motorists an alternative to the highly traveled Interstates 5 and 805 north-south freeways in southern San Diego County, as well as provide an important link to the Otay Mesa Port of Entry/border crossing along the California-Mexico border. Construction is expected to extend over the next three and a half years.
The SR-125 South Project is the second of the AB 680 toll road franchises approved by the California legislature in 1990. Funding for the project combines private funds, US Department of Transportation appropriations from the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act, and Transnet (local sales tax) funding through the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG).
Parsons has completed many successful design-build transportation facilities and toll road construction projects, such as the California SR-73 (San Joaquin Hills) in Orange County, US 60 in Phoenix, Alameda Corridor in Los Angeles, and I-15 in Salt Lake City. "This project is another great example of the Parsons commitment to innovative project delivery methods and to public/private partnerships as a viable option for development of badly needed transportation improvements," stated Tom Barron, Parsons Executive Vice President.
Parsons, a leader in many diverse markets such as infrastructure, advanced technology, transportation, environmental and planning, continues to provide technical and management solutions to federal, regional and local government agencies as well as private industries worldwide.
