This technology-driven project was conceived as a composition in T-wall sections for abutments and wing walls, and Inverset panels for the decking. It was first completely constructed off-site before its shipment and installation. A crucial design element speeding the NYC approvals process was H2L2's design of the battered stone wing walls at the request of the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation. The entire team enjoyed a warm professional relationship on this project; it was a unique interaction between NYC public agencies and private sector designers. The bridge has also won 2 silver awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York: one for Design Services, and the other for Resident Engineering Inspection Services. |
