More people are plumping for park homes - factory-built, single storey properties within a private park setting.

With prices starting at pounds 15,000 - rising to pounds 100,000 at the luxury end - it's easy to see why. Double glazing, central heating and fitted kitchens are standard and if bought brand new, you can choose your own style and interior.

Residential parks offer a secure site with facilities suited to older couples. Site fees vary from pounds 30 to pounds 120 a month depending upon location and amenities. Site owners will guide you on suitable homes, finance and insurance, and talk to residents to see if the lifestyle is for you.
